Shoe Blues

If you've ever met me, you know my love for shoes. Earlier this year, I had to host meetings two nights in a row at the Embassy Suites hotel & conference center. On the second night, as I was waiting for people to arrive, the manager said 'you always have such great shoes!' Haha, those were the only two times he'd ever seen me.

Unfortunately, my recent shoe luck has been against me.

A few weeks ago a pair of my favorite stilettos (Nine West Pewter Buckles) were eaten by Miss Bella. (I know it was a sign of affection, but really did she have to eat those shoes?!) I'm over it..or I pretend to be...

Then today, I stopped by Fred's Shoe Repair on University to drop off a pair of black stilettos and my black knee-high boots to get the heels repaired. A few hours ago, I went back to pick them up in order to wear one of them to ring in the New Year tomorrow night. As I turned over my ticket, and he headed to the back, I heard a slight moan come out of the repairman's mouth as he headed back to the counter, "Well...here are these (referring to my stilettos) but I couldn't repair these boots." As he explained why, he said he'd give it a try next week with some other tools and see what he could do. He then reimbursed me for the boot repair and added, "just in case I can't fix them, I'll call you so you don't have to make a trip back and throw them out for you...after all you can't safely wear them like this." I beg to disagree, sir. Anyway, I have high hopes they'll find the right tools and make a girls day with a call saying, "It worked, they look brand new!"

But just in case, I have a new pair of boots on the way. No, they won't really replace my knee-highs but I LOVE these new shoes. After being on some shoe web sites, I found a super super cute pair of Jimmy Choo shoes. Okay, I've never spent an insane amount of $ on shoes, but I've wanted to. As I saw these boots and the $1250 price tag, I sighed...but then saw they were on clearance for $495. I contemplated, bookmarked the site and kept going back and forth. Besides the fact that my husband may disown me for paying that much for shoes, I'd always feel guilty. (Did I mention that the shoe was on clearance because there was only one size left. 39 EU. After checking a conversion chart online, that's about a 8.5. I wear a 7.5. I was still contemplating).

Fortunately, after Google-ing for a while, I found a new favorite site 'The Look 4 Less". They had blogged about these shoes last month when they were still full-price and found a much MUCH cheaper option for less than $30. They're on order and should be here in 7-10 business days. Hooray!
