Spectacular Spectacular

Friday night was spectacular or in the words of Melissa 'sex-tacular'!

Seven of us got all styled-up to see Sex and the City 2. A quick movie review: While there was no huge climax or moments of sitting on the edge of your seat, there were plenty of laughs, non-stop amazing fashion and flashbacks to your own life & friends. Not as good as the first, but definitely worth going to see for all big SATC fans out there.

Outside the theater, we piled into our limo for the night (a couple free hours thanks to a gift certificate won on NYE) and headed downtown. While the 3 hours cruising the city and stopping at my 2 fave bars in Peoria went too fast..seriously toooo fast.. the night was spectacular. Thanks to the girls I got to spend it with.

A few pics, including my outfit for the night.

Coming Soon: Friday Night Lights, Flights & Martinis

A few weeks ago I counted down to one month until the SATC 2 Movie release.

Well peeps, we're down to less than 1 week! Best part is we have an amazing girls night planned for this coming Friday night. Just wait, Peoria. Get ready for NYC to 'roll up' in this town. Look for a post after next Friday for details ;)

Hat Attack

I’ve always loved hats. On other people that is. Whenever I try them on in the store I take 2 or 3 looks in the mirror and typically say ‘no, don’t think so.’ I did buy a cute black derby style hat a few years ago. Have I ever worn it out? ‘No, don’t think so.'

However, when I’m out dancing or at the bar I always find a hat to wear. A couple case in points from the past year - - Seibel’s bachlorette party (stole a hat and kept it), Chicago night out with the girls (stole a hat and kept it - - actually in the end he said I could have it) and most recently at Steph’s wedding I stole another hat (this one he wanted back).

A few weeks ago, I did buy a super cute hat at Macy’s. Haven’t worn it yet, but I’ve promised myself I’ll do it soon. Promise.

Celebrate in Style

My sister celebrated her 21st earlier this month on the same day as my birthday (she’s the only birthday present that’s lasted over 20 years and also the best). We went out to a wine bar in Wicker Park to celebrate. I’ve never been to Wicker Park and expected something similar to Lakeview. Just as many bars, restaurants, etc. but 100x worse traffic and parking.
After looping the same block area 3 times in 40 minutes…we finally found a valet. For her gift, I tried to find something fun that would fit her style to go out with friends. I found a simple zippered jean skirt, rock-style tight fitting t-shirt and super adorable navy flowered ballet flats by Chinese Laundry.

While I was shopping for her gift, I came across a pair of shoes for myself as well, go figure. A cute pair of purple stilettos on clearance for about $15. I wore them that weekend and got a lot of compliments, it appeared there were plenty of people out there that enjoy purple as much as me (Kallie – just in case you ever read this, I did think of you when I bought purple shoes, too).
Well turns out that Bella loves purple, too. Yes, the next day we got home after a nice weekend and did a couple hours of yard work. I came in the house to find my brand new purple shoe with bite marks galore. Seriously? I’ve owned these shoes for less than 48 hours and was even at home, so don’t tell me you were lonely Miss Bella. A little black sharpie on the heel and making sure I wear them with long pants in the future will have to do.

Most expensive accessory is no longer a pair of shoes

Besides my engagement ring and the earrings Robert bought me a few years ago for Christmas, the item I spent the most on in my wardrobe was probably a pair of shoes.

That's no longer the case. I never thought it would be a sports watch! When you have a hubby that loves his electronics tho, that's what you get girls. Actually, it's a lot of fun and I'm happy to have it, but could never see myself buying this over a gorgeous pair of heels.

It is pretty awesome, myGarmin watch has GPS, tells me how far I've gone, if I'm staying at, above or below my planned speed per mile, downloads a map of the course I ran on my laptop, tracks my running (or biking) history, provides the steepness of any hills I ran, calories burned...oh yeah and it does still tell time.

Who knew a sport you just use your own 2 legs for ends up being so expensive. Psssh.
