Oh no they didn't

Number 7 on my Ten for '10 Goals/Resolutions is "Trend Setter".

When skinny jeans came back in style I swore I'd never wear them....
I now own at least 3 pair.

Then there were leggings. No way I was getting my hips in those...
A couple black pair, one gray and a brown. Yup, I gave in (and have to say I love them).

High waist skirts. You guessed it. I'm a sucker for "new" fashion trends. I even tried on a one piece jumpsuit at Charlotte Russe the other day. Have to say I even liked it but wasn't ready to take the plunge.

But no way, no how will I ever wear the newest fashion trend set to hit stores. Hot pants. I had no idea what these were when I started reading about them; figured it was another version of a skinny jean, legging, jegging..

First, I honestly don't see how the are even attractive on those deemed 'toothpicks'. These look like granny panties..don't they? I promise and cross my heart, hope to die that I will not be jumping on this bandwagon. At least not this version!

Steph - Per our conversation today, you best hold me to this!

One Month to Fabulous Fashion & Forever Friends

May 27, 2010. Opening night for Sex and the City 2! Rumor has it tickets are already selling out for opening night and it's still a month away. (However, I'm sure I don't need to worry about this in Peoria, but just saying.)

One pair of gorgeous shoes to be seen in the second movie.

And still so in love with that green outfit SJP wore during the first movie. Beyond the fabulous fashion, I do love the amazing story of friendship of SATC...reminds me not to take for granted the amazing women in my life.

Get excited people..I know I am!

Sunday Lazy Sunday

This rainy Sunday has been pretty unproductive on my end especially with this massive headache that has yet to go away. A few highlights from my lazy day:

1. Robert has been asking me daily (if not more) what I want for my birthday. I seriously cannot think of anything! Since he won't take 'nothing' for an answer, I need to come up with something fast. Looking for ideas..

2. As I was searching the web today, I realized that April in National Poetry month. I used to love writing poetry. Here's one of my favorites - http://www.thewritegallery.com/writing/forbidden.html

3. If you like the Prada heel on my blog banner, one of my favorite Blogs - The Look 4 Less - posted a great deal this weekend. The toe is too rounded for me, but love that heel! http://www.thelook4less.net/2010/04/prada-floral-heeled-pump.html

4. Before today's downpour I did get out for a run with Bella. Completed my longest run yet - 4 miles in 46:12 without walking. That's about an 11:30 minute mile, a 45 second improvement over a week and a half ago. Looks like I'll be joining a new team at Wednesday's Building Steam to keep my momentum going.

5. I was supposed to clean the bathrooms today. Whoops. I think my headache is a good enough excuse to let me get by (for today at least).

6. I missed celebrating my dad's birthday with him this weekend, which definitely stinks, but had a lot of things going on in Peoria yesterday. Good news is that I'll be back home in less than two weeks to help him celebrate a belated b-day, celebrate my birthday, Mother's Day and my sister's 21st! Looking forward to it.

7. All of my Sunday night shows are on so I'm going to let my mind stay clear and not worry about my busy week until I wake up tomorrow!

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Running a Mile a Minute

It's sooo nice out - I love that purple flower tree, wonder what it is. Okay, I seriously don't understand why my face is breaking out so badly. Maybe I'll find a dermetologist, I saw that billboard or maybe I just need a good facial - yeah, I'll schedule that for this weekend. Ooh, that reminds me I need to get out my Play-A-Thon invite for next weekend. When can I go shopping to get everything for the party? Probably Monday. Maybe I'll have some time to go look for some new heels, too, my black heels cannot handle being worn everyday anymore. "Bella! No! Leave the squirrel alone." Geez. I hate yelling at you in front of people I feel like a bad mom or something, haha.

As I said my mind runs a mile a minute. While I'm running.
To actually run a mile it's a 12-12:30 minute pace. Back in high school we had to run the "12 minute run" every quarter or semester (something like that). I'm pretty sure I walked half the time. I've never been a runner and I don't think I'm meant to be. People talk about getting a Runner's High, but I have yet to experience that. My mind isn't clear, it continues to run, but really I'm okay with that. (I get a Dancer's High, so maybe I can only get that clear-minded, adrenaline pumping feeling from one or the other. Dance is fine by me!)

But with that said, I am trying out this running thing anyways. Robert and I have been talking about some things we can get out and do together to have fun that aren't super pricey so we signed up for Building Steam - a running program every Wednesday on the Riverfront. Robert's in the 10-minute group (The Running Hotties they call themselves - they go out each week after the run and even have their own web site - www.runninghotties.com). I on the other hand landed in the 12-minute group. No, we don't have a web site and our team is fairly large, but we were given a team name yesterday - The Dirty Dozen. No worries, I get to run alongside Steph and Jenny so it's still fun. Maybe we can come up with our own name - Three Amigos, Triple Threat, How About a Threesome? Girls - what do you think?

It's been just over 2 weeks since training began and I have to say I've been impressed with how well I'm keeping up with running on non-training days. Since last summer I've been "running" but by that I mean once or twice a week and no longer than 20 minutes max. The past 2-3 weeks, I've run 5-6 days a week and on average do 30 minutes of non-stop running. I made my longest time earlier this week without stopping - 41 minutes, 20 seconds. Not too shabby.

Of course, this was also a good excuse to buy myself a new pair of shoes. I bought the Reebok Runtones. I'm sure the results are nowhere close to what they advertise, but hey, I did say Robert and I were looking for ways to get out and have fun. I'm sure a slightly tighter butt couldn't hurt.

Swinging Spring

1, 2, 3, 4 back step. 1, 2, 3, 4 back step.  Robert got that one down quickly..as for the inside turn vs. outside turn...

That's right, I finally found a place to go dancing at night in Peoria (which also was a good opportunity to get dressed up). We tried our first night swing dancing at Body Fitness last weekend. The first hour was a quick lesson where we learned the 6-step, a few different turns (Robert's favorite was the Man Turn, haha) and the dip. After the hour lesson, it was open dance. We had a lot of fun. He spun me along the dance floor all night, but we kept missing the end of the song for the dip, so we decided to test it out in the middle of a song. We nailed it! But we could never hear the end of the song coming up. Just as we were getting ready to leave and decided it would be our last dance, Robert quickly tried out the dip - - however, I was not prepared! He threw my arm around his shoulder, took me back and Boom! how quickly I fell on the dance floor. Whoops.

We decided to stay for one more dance to end on a good note. A trip to the Ice Cream Shack afterward helped heal my bruise.

Sandals for the Midwest...or Cancun

This weekend we went home for Easter. I found some time to head to the mall and check out some new stores. Cute sandals are everywhere! Which made me start thinking about my summer footwear and found some shoe ideas for the bathing suit I'm interested in.

Here are a couple pairs I really liked -

I also found these.

Or of course, I could go with a pair of sandals already sitting in my closet.

Now...I plan to just use my sandals and bathing suit in the Midwest this year; no vacation plans for us. (We'll be using our time off to do some housework and painting this year). But what's more fun is while we were visiting our family this weekend we got to surprise our parents with a trip to Mexico! Robert and I have been scheming on this one for a while to give our parents a vacation to one of the Palace Resorts (we stayed at one for our Honeymoon and another one last fall for vacation). We told them about it this weekend and were really excited to see their expressions! Now begins the planning and fun stuff on their end. Can't wait for them to enjoy it!
