Well, she (I) was just seventeen

Last night we celebrated our 4-year wedding anniversary. It's always nice to stop and really think about how lucky I am. For the past almost 10 years (again, wow!) I've been in love with Robert. I think we're a lot different than a lot of couples I know, but I wouldn't ask for it to change. We definitely have different interests and in many ways are opposites, but for as many differences as we have, we have just the same number of similarities.

After dinner we headed to the riverfront to see American English, a Beatles cover band we've seen in the 'burbs before. As we sat listening to the music, I was quickly reminded on our common love for a good beat and all types of music.

Here's a list of songs that have meant something along our relationship journey:
  • Everything, Lifehouse
  • In Your Eyes, Peter Gabriel
  • Erin, Sister Hazel
  • Let Love In, Goo Goo Dolls
  • What a Beautiful Day, Chris Cagle
  • She's Got a Way, Billy Joel
  • Now and Forever, Richard Marx
  • Amazing Grace
We love musicals (a little too much) and sometimes even blast them in the car with the windows down. Yes, we can be a nerdy couple but that's okay with me.

And last night as we listened to American English, this song flashed me back to the beginning of it all. Love you hun!

Well, she was just seventeen,
You know what I mean,
And the way she looked was way beyond compare.
So how could I dance with another, (Ooh)
And I saw her standing there.

Well she looked at me, and I, I could see,
That before too long I'd fall in love with her.
She wouldn't dance with another, (Ooh)
And I saw her standing there.

Well, my heart went "boom",
When I crossed that room,
And I held her hand in mine...

Whoa, we danced through the night,
And we held each other tight,
And before too long I fell in love with her.
Now I'll never dance with another, (Ooh)
Since I saw her standing there.
