This post is a little late in the making and I figured I wouldn’t post in the end, but after sitting in the airport for 3+ hours, I figured WTH. (Plus, I’ve tried to update progress on my 2010 goals every once in a while and this aligns with my ‘To Market to Market’ goal so it had to be done at some point!)
A month or so ago, I attended our marketing orientation class at work. The first day everyone showed up dressed best in show – heels, suit jackets and even ties. A group made up of people from all over our global organization – Illinois, Florida, Texas, Brazil, India, Switzerland, France, Poland, Turkey, Germany, UK, Japan, Peru, Costa Rica…think you get the picture.
And while within the first day, people kept in their space and within their groups of people they knew, it soon changed. Throughout the next few weeks after a few drinks, dinners and bus trips to visit other facilities in the Midwest we got to know each other much better.
By the end of the 2 weeks, you could find us in steel-toed shoes, jeans and polos (even though this was mostly a manufacturing facility requirement - - I’d say the comfort of our clothing, aligned with the comfort of our relationship). Hope I get to see most of them again some day. Thanks for the experience (and sorry for the late post).
